This is the second session using the tie ring. Now that Timber has been introduced to it, I will work more on desensitizing with Timber learning (hopefully) that he doesn’t have to always run when faced with uncertain events.
At one point, Timber got the rope wrapped around his foot and panicked. He finally figured it out and calmed down very quickly. EVERY horse is going to get into trouble sooner or later. It’s much better to have this happen during training rather than in an uncontrolled (and possibly dangerous) environment.
I also spent some time making noise, motion and generally acting like a nut case to show Timber that motion and noise, that is not directed at him, can learn to be ignored.
